About Me
I am a first year phd student at the university of california – Berkeley studying hispanic linguistics (but am interested in linguistics beyond spanish). my main research interests are phonetics production and processing, and More broadly into psycholinguistics. i got my ba in linguistics from the university of british columbia. during my time there, i was able to grow my knowledge and interest in phonetics and psycholinguistics in the speech in context lab under the mentorship of dr molly babel. now I am in the department of spanish and portuguese supervised by dr justin davidson.
I am originally from bellevue, wa where i was in a spanish immersion program for all of my primary school. My mom is originally from venezuela and my dad is from the us. these all sparked my interest in the investigation of venezuelan phonetics and the cognitive processes of bilinguals in speech perception. this website contains various information about my publications, presentations, and more. if you have any questions or would like to contact me for any reason, please feel free to email me at niko.andres[at]berkeley.edu.
